Eating, Nietzsche and Netflix

"The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. If you try it, you will be lonely often and sometimes frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself."
-Friedrich Nietzsche

Well... the last few months have been a been hectic, with exams, summatives and projects, but luckily school finally ended last week. Which is most amazing.

Source: http://at-universe.blogspot.ca/2011/12/5-study-tips-for-university.html
So I celebrated by shopping and eating. Got to love all that food. Ended up eating between double to quadrupedal the amount of food any of my friends ate... thank you metabolism.

And then I ate again..

Source: http://www.tumblr.com/tagged/hungry%20gif
You know I really love eating.

Source:http://www.tumblr.com/tagged/hungry%20gif
I've never been able to really understand why people starve themselves or why some people just don't like eating. But then again they probably don't understand how I can stand to eat so much.. ha.

In relation to today's quote, I've been thinking about writing my final paper on Nietzsche, or another famous philosophers. I just need to think of a really amazing thesis first though.

Also recently, I thought that it you be a smart idea to get Netflix ad watch all the shows I've been neglecting due to school. Yeah.. haha. Not a good idea.

Well. That's about it for this post, before I go back to watching shows on Netflix, but before that, allow me to ask a question, are you addicted to anything?

No. I'm not dead. Update

"I never saw a wild thing sorry for itself. A small bird will drop frozen dead from a bough without ever having felt sorry for itself."

As a few people have pointed out to me, I have not posted in a very long time. For multiple reasons this has occurred:
1. I've been a bit.... lazy.

Source: http://ee-ass-tee-age-ee-ahr.blogspot.ca/2011_02_01_archive.html
2. I've been busy with school, stupid 80 page evolution ISU, I hate you so much right now. (Directed to the ISU incase that was not clear).

Source: http://www.explosm.net/
3. I've been a bit forgetful (unrelated picture to follow)

Source: http://islamicartdb.com/forget-bad-deeds-nouman-ali-khan-quote/

And recently...
4. I'm sick again, ah sometimes I just really want to stab my immune systems in the back.
Source: http://www.tumblr.com/tagged/sick%20gif
And I could probably go on with a list of excuses as to why I haven't posted anything, but that's bs. Excuses aren't acceptable.

Source: http://janellej1992.tumblr.com/post/19848704660/theres-a-difference-between-reasons-and-excuses
So no, I don't have an actual acceptable reason as to why I've been away for a month with out a peep. And I do apologize for that, however, I am still currently very busy, so I will be updating less frequently. This post is mostly just a "I'm not dead yet" post.

In recent news, track and field has started, and I am feeling very unfit after months of sitting around on my couch not doing anything productive. But it's okay, I still have a few more months before the summer.

Source: http://www.wired.com/playbook/2012/08/scoring-the-decathlon/ashton-eaton-long-jump/

Relating to the summer, I will be spending a month in the gorgeous province of Newfoundland and Labrador, and am most excited. I mean look at the place, it's a beautiful piece of shit. Excuse the language.

But yes, I am most excited but first I have to survive the terrors of exam season, which is coming up very shortly! Ahhhh.
Anyhow, how have you guys been since I last posted?

I'm the Reason why Forests are Dying

"I think the environment should be put in the category of our national security. Defense of our resources is just as important as defense abroad. otherwise what is there to defend?"
-Robert Redford

I've recently noticed that when I have a test, I tend to print out this stack of paper, that's thicker than my textbook. This has made me realize what a tree killer I am. In fact I think that the reason why forests are being cut down, is solely because of IB students.

And the (6) 30-40 page IAs (Internal Assesments), WITs (World Literature papaers) and soon to be essays! Ahhh. So much to print, so much.

I swear IB is just trying to kill the earth. I bet they have this secret plan where they're going to kill the world through us nerds.

I'M SORRY WORLD. I CAN'T HELP IT. AHHH.

On the bright side...I use recycled paper to print! So... that kind of makes it better right? I hope.... Maybe I should just get a tablet like my friend... it seems a lot more eco friendly...

But, look at all the pretty pictures of nature! Think about what you are destroying!

Yeah. Random update among my pile of tests and projects!
Do you guys kill trees?

I am Going to get Myself a Camera

“You don't make a photograph just with a camera. You bring to the act of photography all the pictures you have seen, the books you have read, the music you have heard, the people you have loved.”
 -Ansel Adams

Source: http://www.cinemagrapher.com/

WARNING: Post with no intended meaning and may contain rantings. You have been warned. Read at your own discretion. Also be wary of spelling and grammar in this....

Owning a nice Cannon/Nikon camera has been on my list of things to have for a while, but it has never been at the top of that list. But recently, I've been thinking, I want a nice Camera that I can bring places and take craptastic pictures with. Mmmhm.

Source: http://favim.com/image/257070/

Now I just need to save 500-1500 dollars, and get my parent's approval.. that might be a bit difficult...

But let's say that I do get their approval, now where do I get the money from? Because I'm a student, my bank account is like the Sahara, it's basically deserted with the lone random tree and animal here an there. I don't have 1k that I can just pull out of nowhere. I also don't think my parents would be all that keen to spend that much on "just a camera", unless I wait until I graduate, and get one as a gift? Nah.

Source: http://favim.com/image/309545/

So. Now what? Get a job? I don't think my parents would approve. I know. How am I suppose to learn skills that I need in the real world without a job? I don't know. I don't know my parent's confuse me sometimes. Hmm.. so.. what does that leave me? I could sell my stuff? What stuff? Textbooks? And clothes? Ha. Maybe for like a fraction of what I need to buy the camera...

Source: http://favim.com/image/30954

I could steal it?

Source: http://tumblr.austinkleon.com/post/43173485884
HA. You're funny. Me steal? That's like Taylor Swift or some other golden girl turning into a drug addicted alcoholic prostitute. You my friend are hilarious.

So... What can I do? Who knows. But I will get one, someday soon, and then you'll be seeing my pictures on billboards in New York. Just kidding more like Tumblr. I might turn this blog into a whatever it is now/photography blog. Yay! More posts, in which I don't actually have to think of things to write! It'll be a nice break from all my ramblings. Ha.

BUT WAIT

Source: http://darktopography.blogspot.ca/2008_07_01_archive.html
I'm a clutz, I am going to drop it on the first day and have it smash into a billion pieces and then I'll just be like d'awww. 1k down the drain...So... getting a DSLR camera might not be my brightest idea ever.

Well. That was just a random update that had no meaning to it whatsoever.

But I shall update you on this adventure of mine, in a few months perhaps! But before that, Canon or Nikon? Or something else?

The Influenza and the Bright Side

"J'ai décidé d'être heureux parce que c'est bon pour la santé"
(I decided to be happy because it's good for the health)
- Voltaire

Source: http://www.tumblr.com/tagged/being%20happy

Well. I've been sick for the past week and its been fun, most definitely. No. I detest being sick, it is a miserable and rage inducing experience for me. I'll admit I'm a bit of a nerd, and being a IB student means being loaded down with work. Thus when I get sick, it sucks.

When I get sick, I get BOTH the influenza and the common cold, fun. I can't seem to get only one of them. So the first few days I spend my days moping around, unable to do work because of my headaches and sores. And you know what? This week I had a math test and a essay worth 25% of my final mark due. Is that not great? I love being sick. Ignore what I said before.

Source: http://www.rebelleepoque.com/2012/06/17/one-day/
The remaining days, I spend hacking my lungs and going to the washroom every five minutes because I drank like 1.618 gallons (see what I did there?) of water, okay maybe that's an exaggeration, but you get the point. Mmhmm. Sounds like so much fun right? Being sick is fantastic.

Source: http://www.tumblr.com/tagged/the%20golden%20ratio?language=de_DE
And I'm not one of those people who get sick once every 5 years, no. My immune system is a troll and wants me to get sick 5 times a year, and it also wants me to be sick for a month each time. Thanks, I don't know what I would do with out you. *Insert heart here*

BUT

You know what? Suck it up. Your life could be worse.
So look on the bright side.

1. You get a chance to skip school/work/whatever tedious routine you have and SLEEP IN

Source: http://favim.com/image/104634/
Well you might get to sleep in and miss *insert something* but I on the other hand do not. I am forced to go an attend school and spread my infections to everyone! Fun. I love being at school when I'm sick. I love it even more when I have to write a test when I'm sick. So think of it like this, at least you can sleep in and skip what ever you had to do that day. Unless your like me... which would suck for you.

2. Hot beverages, in my case TEA

Source: http://www.emilyabigail.com/a-dose-of-inspiration/
When I'm sick I can drink as much tea as my heart desires. Mmmmm Tea. I can drink a piping hot cup of tea while reading my favourite book. Just kidding. I read books assigned to me by my English teacher, though I do love reading. Currently books to read: 1984 by George Orwell and The Crucible by Arthur Miller. I'll admit that currently I love 1984, though some of its ideas are bit much for me, but nonetheless a superb read.

3. You have the influenza, at least you're not dying, or have cancer (most likely)

Source: http://www.tumblr.com/tagged/mitochondrial%20disease
However, if you do, then no offense is meant. But for those of us who don't, be glad that it's just the influenza or the common cold. You're not going to die from this. So stop being so melodramatic and stick it through, because in a few days or weeks you'll be pretty much back to normal. This little bug won't do much to you, in fact, it'll only strengthen up your immune system. So you should be thanking this little bug.

4. You can wear what you want

Source: http://www.tumblr.com/tagged/sweatpants
When I'm sick I don't care if people judge me based on what I wear. So why not wear that super lazy or crazy outfit of yours? You're sick, most people will understand, no judgement given. Girls, your body needs a break from those nerve pinching skinny jeans (permanent nerve damage yay!) and those bone destroying heels. I should make a post on why fashion hurts. Excellent plan George.

5. Eat some random stuff!

Source: http://nellanablog.blogspot.ca/2012_02_06_archive.html
I don't know about you, but when I'm sick, my mom let's me eat what I want when I want. Enough said.

6. I get treated like royalty

Source: https://twitter.com/DearPrincesses
It seems that when I'm sick, I pretty much get waited hand and foot, and that's is pretty awesome. Though don't take it for granted. It is pretty nice not having to do things, like making food and getting things for me.

7. You have friends

Soruce: http://weheartit.com/entry/32161410
Who are most likely still going to hang out with you even though you're sick as a diseased rat. Why? Because they're your friends, they'll make sure that you're never alone and always try to make you feel better. However, if you don't, then you need new friends, or your friend is still waiting for you to find them.
Or you could just be a horrible person, in which case I can fully understand why you don't have friends. I'm a blunt and honest person, I'll admit that, but you need to be nicer to people.

I'm going to save the rest for the next time I get sick or something bad happens.
So if you're sick, think of the bright side, and in a matter of days, you'll probably be better!

So, what do you guys do when you're sick?

13 Reasons Why I don't Really care about Valentine's Day

When Saint Valentine died, he sent a letter to his daughter and signed it "From your Valentine".
Hmm. Interesting...

I always seem to see people either eagerly waiting for Valentine's Day to come so that they can spend time with their loved ones. Or to have a reason to eat chocolate like a pig. That's cool too. However, I also always see single, usually, females and males raging and hating towards this holiday. Two very differing options. So, I thought I would join in and give you my take on Valentine's day, with 13 reasons as to why I don't really care.

1. Singularity
Okay, so I admit it, I'm single. Forever alone in my lonely world of science. Even when I did have a boyfriend I was still pretty nonchalant about it. But still, being single your view on days about love is really biased. But that's okay.

2. Saint Valentine Himself
Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saint_Valentine
Saint Valentine is a well recognized third century Roman saint. Who happened to die on the Feburary 14th. However famous for what you might say? Nothing that we can be sure of. So basically you're telling me to celebrate some man death, whose acts are not reliably known, by buying chocolates and whatnot. Hm. Sounds legit.

3. School
Source: http://im-a-fame-monster.blogspot.ca/
It's a holiday. So where is my day off from school? If I still have to go to school and drown in my IB classes and textbooks then I don't really care much for it. So yeah. Not really feeling the vibe.

4. Too much Romance Literature
Source: http://www.guardian.co.uk/books/2002/jul/27/classics.asbyatt
Recently in school I have had to indulge romance literature (such as Madame Bovary, shown above) and write an essay worth around 25% of my final mark on said works. I have dealt with great anger towards these written works. And therefore anything that relates to love currently just does not make me happy. CURSE YOU GUSTAVE FLAUBERT.

5. Praying Mantis
Source: http://www.animalseatinganimals.com/2011/04/is-is-true-praying-mantis-eat-each.html
I dunno. Do you want to get eaten on Valentine's Day. I don't think so.

6. Male Inequality
Source: http://cassieblanche.blogspot.ca/2012/02/how-to-survive-valentines-day.html
Do I really want to make my future boyfriend feel obliged to buy things I don't need and try extra hard to show me his love? I don't think so. I don't want him going broke on my watch.

7. Chicken
Source: http://cassieblanche.blogspot.ca/2012/02/how-to-survive-valentines-day.html
When you compare my love of chickens (the animal) to Valentine's day, it seems really insignificant. Enough said.

8. Chocolate
Source: http://www.tumblr.com/tagged/mms?before=1351525490
I myself am not a huge fan of chocolate. *legasp* I can just hear the hate. But yeah, to the people who like this day for the chocolate, I really don't sympathize. Considering I can get chocolate any time I want, this doesn't really make me care for Valentine's Day.

9. Spelling
Source: http://www.tumblr.com/tagged/will%20you%20be%20my%20valentine
I don't know about you, but I can't spell for my life. So when people create holidays I really don't like spelling them out. And such is Valentines. Also the capitalizing. Bleh. Therefore I prefer if Valentine's Day was just February 14th. Actually can we get rid of February, I can't spell that either.

10. Puns
Source: http://www.tumblr.com/tagged/will%20you%20be%20my%20valentine
I love a good pun and all, but when my friends give me the 1000th most idiotic nerd related puns, it gets kind of annoying. And I also lose all of my puns in one day. Can't pick up people with puns I already used. Darn.

11. Gifts
Source: http://www.tumblr.com/tagged/valentines%20gift
You're telling you want me to buy chocolate and cards for people. I'm a high school student. I don't have the money. No thanks. I'd rather pretend I don't know what Valentine's Day is.

12. It Ruined a perfectly good 4 1/2 day weekend
Source: http://life--your--dreams.tumblr.com/
This is more of a why I hate Valentine's Day. My school thought it was a bad idea to put a half day on Valentine's Day so they moved to today. CURSE YOU VALENTINE'S DAY.

13. I just like the number thirteen
Source: http://www.13strikes.com/boot-camp.php
So was this an excuse to have more 13's? Maybe... You'll never know.

13 or so reasons as to why I don't really care about Valentine's day. What do you think about it?
